I had the privilege of working with Patrick for a short time at Broome County IT. He was a rock in the department, always willing to help, and always with a positive, helpful disposition. Though we did not know one another outside of work, we shared many thoughtful and insightful discussions beyond the work we did together that I remember fondly. He had a great dry wit and was a wealth of information and helpfulness. My deepest condolences to all of his family.

Memories of Patrick I will always remember of Patrick as the strong silent type. I recall the first few times that Patrick and Rachel came to visit. Patrick was always polite and pleasant but typically preferred to sit in the corner with his cell phone while the rest of us would visit. If you asked about a topic, he was interested in he would enthusiastically join in. But mostly he was content to sit and observe. As time went on and we all got to know each other he did loosen up…a little! What I will always be most thankful for is what he did for our daughter Rachel. I have heard him described as the “love of her life” on many occasions and that truly is how Rachel felt about Patrick. For the most part he knew what he was getting into with Rachel’s condition, yet he still brought her into his life. In so he made her life so much more fulfilling. I was amazed at all the different things that she did with Patrick’s encouragement and support. Most of which she would have never experienced on her own; skiing, hiking, shooting a gun, traveling to National Parks, camping, and riding a motorcycle wearing her own leathers! He exposed her to so many fun and exciting things that gave her such joy. And when things got difficult, he was her rock. When she was hospitalized, he was her connection to life at home. When she needed someone to take her to NYC, Patrick was one of the drivers that got her there and back. When she was home for last time, he was there holding her hand and providing comfort when it came time to say goodbye. It takes a special person to do all of that. I will be forever grateful for his love and compassion and strength to Rachel. Now it is our time to say goodbye to Patrick. We find comfort in knowing that his pain is gone, and he is at peace. I will always think of him as part of our family. I know that he is with Rachel and Diesel in heaven and will be watching us from above until we all meet again. God Bless! Tom Stout Rachel’s Dad

When reflecting on knowing Patrick and working closely with him over the years, I call to mind that he: Patiently and thoughtfully put the needs of others ahead of his own. Always did his work with a high standard of excellence. Took time to help others no matter how busy he was himself. Really had a gift for putting other people at ease. Inevitably found humor in any situation. Cared deeply for his loved ones and spoke fondly of them. Kindly left whomever he met a better person for having known him. My deepest condolences to Patrick's family and loved ones at this most difficult time, and my heartfelt appreciation to you for sharing him with us. We have been blessed beyond all measure.

I was blessed to have worked with Patrick for a few years at Broome County in the IT department. He was such a wonderful person. Never got upset, went with the flow. I loved to see his pictures when he returned from vacation from out West. When they say only the good die young, he was one of them. I would like to send my condolences to his family and friends. We will miss him! Heaven gained another Angel.

While I did not work directly with Patrick in our IT department, any contact I did have was always incredibly positive, you could tell he was a kind soul who would go out of his way to help. My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. I've come to learn that losses like this make little sense. Prayers to all!

It was a steep uphill climb the last six months but you finally made it to the top of the mountain early in the morning on Aug. 4. I remember listening to your heart beating in your Moms belly 42 years ago the day you was born. And I will never forget listening to your last heartbeat Thursday morning. Thank you Pat for being my son. Enjoy the mountain. Love you and miss you. Dad
